Graveyard

Is nostalgia my inherent weakness?

What is this?

Every person out there grew up with something. My best friend grew up with He-Man. My husband grew up with a variety of different video games in the shooter genre. My cousins grew up with Nintendo. My Mom tried her damn best to steer me away from any sort of video games, because she worried I'd become addicted to them. She failed miserably! My cousins introduced me to video games anyway. That is my (abridged) story of how I became a Nintendo zombie.

I'll continue to use Nintendo as an example. Over the years, as I've grown older and older, I've come to some dark realizations about Nintendo. Not just Nintendo, of course, but other companies that made games I really liked as well. The Graveyard exists as a place for me to mourn these properties.

In regards to Nintendo specifically, I have no interest in continuing to hold out hope that they'll create another game that suits my fancy. I would much rather invest my time into the indie scene and see what other creators have to come up with.

I don't want to continue holding these properties up on a pedestal, but I want to acknowledge the impact that they had on me as an individual and the marks they left on my creativity.
